Doctor of Physical Therapy

Board Certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy
“I firmly believe that proper exercise, combined with a focus on lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, and stress management, are the most powerful ways that we can rehabilitate from an injury as well as prevent the onset and slow the progression of the chronic diseases that plague our society.”

Dr. Ian Nay is originally from the warm desert of Southern California where he became a competitive multi-sport athlete including soccer, basketball, and baseball. It was a soccer injury that led him to the world of physical therapy and spurred his interest to begin shadowing a physical therapist while still in high school. Ian attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he received his Bachelor’s with Magna Cum Laude Honors in Kinesiology and then moved to Colorado. He achieved his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University and Board Certification in Orthopedics from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Since then, he has gained post-graduate certifications in Blood Flow Restriction therapy, Level 1 and 2 Functional Dry Needling, spinal manipulation, and extensive training through the Institute of Clinical Excellence (ICE). Ian is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and has served as a Colorado State Delegate at the House of Delegates in Washington, D.C.

Ian’s passion for physical therapy lies in empowering individuals through a focus on pain reduction, manual therapy, strength training, and showing them that they are capable of more than they ever thought possible. From his background in personal training, team sports, return-to-sport rehab, running, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and CrossFit, Ian believes that a fitness-forward approach to rehabilitation is necessary to return to the activities that you love to do. Personal injuries have also developed his understanding of what happens psychologically and emotionally to someone when they have pain and cannot perform in their desired capacity. He is honored to be on the team at Mend Boulder and looks forward to providing you with the best care possible.

Outside of physical therapy, Ian enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and pets. Some of his
favorite activities include travelling, camping, hiking, cooking, reading, and playing golf.
