Jeff’s experience as an athletic trainer and a strength and conditioning specialist (C.S.C.S.) ignited his interest in orthopaedics and sports medicine. Since his time working with Division 1 athletes at the University of Iowa, Jeff has launched a career treating patients with a variety of orthopaedic and sports related injuries from amateur to professional athletes. His background in orthopaedic manual therapy, clinical decision making, and his hands-on approach to each individual patient’s course of care is part of Jeff’s signature treatment style.
Jeff attended the University of Iowa where he received a degree in Athletic Training, and the University of Georgia, earning a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology. Upon graduation from Emory University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Jeff was awarded the Johnnie Morgan Award For Excellence In Clinical Science. He then spent time working in Indianapolis and Atlanta before returning to Boulder to open Mend with Kristin Carpenter.
Jeff’s priority at Mend is to combine his patients’ goals with the best available medical evidence and his clinical expertise to develop an effective treatment plan. He works to alleviate symptoms and improve function for patients through manual therapy and focused exercise interventions. The environment at Mend allows him to spend each 60 minute treatment session uninterrupted so he can devote his complete attention to each individual case. Jeff is continually inspired by patients who face huge obstacles during their recovery, but successfully return to their active lifestyles under his care.
Jeff is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and previously served as a member of the legislative committee and district chair in local state chapters. He was honored with a national Emerging Leader Award in 2012, presented to professionals who are up-and-coming in physical therapy, as well as, the Colorado APTA Bob Doctor Service Award in 2018. Jeff is also a Fellow of the American Association of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists achieving the highest level of clinical education and training. His professional interests include advancing the profession of physical therapy by promoting early access to physical therapy services for patients with musculoskeletal conditions and teaching within orthopedic physical therapy residency programs and physical therapy courses across the country.
Outside of the office, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, teaching, reading and enjoying all the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer.
Jeff sees patients and personal training clients at the M Powered location in Boulder.
