What you can expect during your Physical Therapy telehealth visit

For many of us, telehealth is a whole new world with lots of unknowns. We want to make the process as easy and effective as possible to make sure you get the most out of your appointment. Here are the most frequent questions we get from clients before starting their therapy session.

What should I wear?

Wear what you would to an in-person appointment: athletic clothes that make it easy to see your body move. Athletic shoes will be helpful if we’re working on the lower half of your body.

Do I need a special room in my house for this?

Just clear out a space of about 8 x 8 feet. Either carpet or wood floors will work just fine. And try to keep the area clear of roaming dogs and small children. Don’t worry about a little clutter.

Do I need any special equipment?

No special equipment, just some creativity. For most of our appointments a non-rolling chair is useful. Outside of that we will work with you, and the items you already own, to create effective tools to assist your healing.

Am I going to be exercising during the session?

Yes! But it depends on where you are in your healing process. Exercises for someone in severe pain will be focused on pain relief and improving your body’s mobility. For those who can already move comfortably, expect to get a good sweat going as we progress you through your treatment session.

I’m concerned about privacy…

So are we. We use a secure Zoom platform and are fully compliant with HIPAA guidelines, just like if you were in our office. Similar to an in clinic visit, nothing we do will be recorded or shared without your expressed written permission.
